Summary
The Gyrfalcon Falсo rusticolus L. is one of rare falcon species, listed in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation (RF). The state of its local population in Kamchatka keeps on deteriorating, mostly owing to poaching, which has acquired nearly industrial scale in the Kamchatka region. The circumstances that ‘favor’ this kind of poaching are well known and have been thoroughly analyzed (Lobkov et al., 2007; 2011).
